“Are we there yet?” the voice of Kubike called out, walking along the halls with her siblings.

“When we get there, you’ll know,” Faltix responded, adjusting his glasses as he sighed, “Geez, we’re not in a car yet you still ask that.”

Faltix walked ahead of the four children, leading them down a different part of the facility grounds.   It had been two weeks since the intelligence C&A video was done, both Rogert and Ashira having viewed the results.  Their assumption was correct in that they’d willingly admit to Faltix things that they never admitted to them personally.  As a surprise for them, Faltix was told to lead them to a new area that had recently been installed in the facility.

“If we took more car trips and got out more often,” she retorted, “then maybe I’d have more patience for things like this.”

“So what are we doing again?” Ryuyo asked, trying to change the subject so that Faltix and Kubike wouldn’t get frustrated with each other.

“We’re heading over to a new part of the building.  Your parents have a little surprise in store for you.”

“Ooh, what kind of surprise is it?” Angica asked, her hands behind her back as she examined the walls around her.

“If he told us that,” Darten commented, placing his hands in his pockets as he walked with his eyes closed, “then it wouldn’t be much of a surprise.”

Kubike looked over to him, noticing how he wasn’t paying attention to where they were going.  “I’m surprised that you aren’t even interested in any of this.  It’s not every day that we get to go somewhere new.  Aren’t you worried about walking into a wall or something?”

“I can hear your footsteps just fine,” he replied, “and I’m sure that I can sense whether or not a wall or door in my way.”

Ryuyo chuckled at this, “Next, you’ll be telling me how you can read power levels and sense the energy of others.”

“Man, are we there now?” Kubike interrupted, her hands behind her head as she looked to the ceiling.

“Almost,” Faltix answered, rubbing his forehead before running his fingers through his hair.  Breathing another sigh through his lips, he whispered aloud to himself, “You’d think I’d be used to this by now.”

“Hehe, I think we all should be,” Angica replied, grinning as she peered over to Kubike.  She managed to dodge a playful push from her sister, sticking her tongue out at Kubike as Kubike did the same to her.  Ryuyo looked back at them, grinning at their playfulness before looking over to Darten.  He still walked along with them, eyes closed and hands in his pockets, walking just to the left behind Faltix to make sure that he didn’t run into anything.  He laughed a little, shaking his head at his brother’s actions before looking forward to see where they were going.

“This should be it,” Faltix replied, coming up to a large set of double doors to his left.  They all stopped her, Darten opening his eyes just before he ran into Faltix’s leg.  He pushed both doors open at once, stepping in as he looked over his shoulder, “Come on in.”

As the four entered the room, their eyes widened in surprise from what they saw before them.  Even Darten had a surprised look on his face, though he quickly tried to conceal it before the others saw.

The room before them resembled that of a martial arts studio, a dojo laid out with many attributes known to them.  Mirrors lined the wall on one side while the majority of the floor was covered in a wisteria colored martial arts mat.  A small window on the opposite side of the room looked out over the country side, two body opponent bag stands alongside the window.  With Faltix standing in front of the door examining the area, the children went in different directions, each heading over to what they saw as interesting.

Ryuyo went over to the corner closest to the entrance to the dojo, noticing a wooden dummy with many wooden bars protruding from its form.  What looked to be white gauze was wrapped around different areas of the wooden dummy, the markings in this gauze and the look of the wooden bars showing that this had been used many times before.

Angica went over to the window, taking notice of the body opponent bags beside it.  One bag was in the form of a man, its face grimacing angrily as it had no arms.  She then noticed that the other bag looked to be more robotic than the first, different spots on the face and torso showing concave lights within it.  The bag that looked more human had markings upon its form, signs that it had been used once before; the robotic one, however, looked as though it were brand new.

Kubike and Darten both went over to a display on the wall opposite the mirrors, noticing a case containing an assortment of weapons.  Half of the weapons shown were made of wood, while the true weapons hung beside them.  It was a large case, having within it at least one dozen different types of weapons within.  As Kubike continued to admire the different blades and staffs, Darten took notice of a door not too far from where this case stood.  He walked over to the door and, before he could grab the knob to peer inside, saw as it began to open.

“Well now, it looks like you’ve made it already,” the familiar male voice from within spoke.  Darten stepped back, smiling as he saw his parents emerge from the room.

“I hope that you didn’t have too hard of a time finding this place,” Ashira commented, placing her hand on the side of Darten’s face as she caressed his cheek.  Upon hearing their parents, Ryuyo, Kubike, and Angica looked away from the different martial arts equipment.

“Not so bad,” Faltix responded, “the walk did us some good.  Not too far from the home, though they will get some good exercise on the way here.”

“I’m sure they can handle it,” Rogert commented, walking towards the middle of the room, “It’s why we set this up in the first place.”

“So…all of this is for us?”  Ryuyo asked, making his way over to his parents.

“You could say that,” Ashira replied, “we saw the tape of what you children had to say a while back.  You all seemed to share a similar interest in the martial arts.  So we thought that this would be a good way of teaching you about it.”

“You mean we get to learned how to fight?” Angica questioned.

“That’s right,” her mother replied, “we figured that your bodies could use some training as much as your minds have been.”

“Sounds good to me,” Kubike spoke up, grinning as she walked over to her parents, “so what does that mean about our workload?”

“You’ll still be responsible for the work set aside for you,” Rogert answered, “but we figure that it would be best to ease up a little on how much we’ve given you.  All of you already have the mental level of high school students; you’ll be college level in no time, even with an extra bit of physical learning added to your schedules.”

“Exemplary,” Darten commented, still standing by the door as his parents moved to the center of the room, “But who will be the one to train us?”

“That would be me.”

Darten turned, looking up to the one who answered him just now.  All in the room looked in the direction of the office door, the children in awe at the figure before them.

Standing 6’2”, a white male grinned at everyone looking upon him with violet eyes.  He was clad in a pair of bistre colored workman’s boots and wore a pair of black jeans, a white tank top tucked within them and secured with a brown belt with amber buckle.  He wore fingerless gloves of sapphire color, his left thumb in his pocket with hand resting at his side while his right hand kept forming into and out of a fist.  His hair was white, practically beige in color, and stood up in a short, spiky way from his head.  His features were nothing short of muscular, the tank top revealing a fit physique of cut muscle and a trim form.

“My name,” the man began, speaking in a baritone voice slightly higher than that of Rogert, “is Sedmon Dalvis Nurigin.  I will be the one to educate you in the martial arts.”

“He’s a friend of ours,” Rogert spoke up, “one that we’ve known since grade school.”

“It was with his help that we were able to get this company off the ground,” Ashira continued, “what with his continued support and help in getting clients and contracts.”

I can imagine how, Faltix thought, noting how the build of Sedmon must conclude to great strength.  “And you’re confident that he will be able to take the children in as students?”

“We have much faith in him,” Ashira replied, “and I know that he’s fit for the job.”

“Besides,” Rogert continued, “it’s the least that we can do for him with all the help he’s provided over the years.”

“You have no need to worry, Mr. Gendrako,” Sedmon started, smiling as he spoke, “while I admit to reservations when I was told of the ages of the ones I’d be training, I was then informed of the process in which they came to be.  These are no ordinary children, I’m sure,” he continued, looking unto each one as he spoke, “and I’m quite sure that they’ll be able to progress just fine under my rule.”

Ryuyo walked over to where everyone else was now standing, staring up at the man that would be their instructor.  Sedmon looked down upon the child and smiled as he spoke.

“You must be Ryuyo,” he said, ceasing the fist forming of his right hand, “Your parents have told me much about you four already.”

He then looked to each child as he addressed them, “And you would be Angica, Kubike, and young Darten.  Yes…I think this will go quite well for you all.”

Darten smiled back at the man before him, chuckling a little as he spoke, “Heh, well now, this should be fun.  When do we begin?”

“Your training with him begins tomorrow,” Rogert replied, “and today will be a day of rest for you all.  We figured that you could use a break before beginning something new.”

“Alright!” Kubike exclaimed, “A chance to kick butt and a day of rest.  Things are looking better already.”

“I think it’s going to be at tad bit more advanced than that, dear,” Ashira remarked to her daughter.

“Indeed,” Sedmon confirmed, “You will quickly find that this is no “McDojo” that you are entering into…but that can wait until tomorrow.”

“Alright, children,” Rogert spoke, “Let’s take our leave for now.  I’m sure that Mr. Nurigin would like to finish setting up before tomorrow comes.”

“It was nice to meet you sir,” Angica spoke up, giving a small curtsey before turning to leave.

“Yeah,” Kubike added, nodding upwards to him, “this really should be fun.”

“I look forward to the lessons at hand,” Darten replied, following after his sisters.

Ryuyo walked slowly backwards, still amazed at the man before him.  He smiled widely as he bowed to him, running out of the door as Rogert and Ashira followed.

“This endeavor looks to be an interesting one indeed,” Sedmon commented, Faltix the only one left in the room with him, “feel free to join us if you like, Gendrako, as I was told a bit about you as well.”

“I think I’ll do that, Nurigin,” he replied, walking out of the room; he felt a bit of uneasiness as he stood in the same room with this man.  “I wouldn’t mind getting to know you better as well.  Until tomorrow.”

As Faltix departed, only Sedmon remained in the dojo…his dojo.  He chuckled aloud as he walked back into his office.

“I feel that you’ll come to know much of me in the days to come,” he said aloud, closing the door behind him.
This is the seventh chapter of my original story.

So Darten's vision is not good normally.... with red irises, maybe his eyes are not suited to normal light levels....or perhaps he's actually got quite impaired vision... either that, or he's practicing some other kind of 'seeing' like radar or sensing energy fields of the human aura. Can't wait to find out more about that.

I have only a smattering of knowledge of Eastern disciplines, but I would say these four children are as Sedmon said, anything but ordinary, so one can only assume they will be just as focussed on their physical education since it's a common interest. Wonder if there will be some rivalry, here? :)

Again, you lead so nicely into things to come that I look forward to the next chapter. Well done. I do believe I might be learning something too when I read on.
