With you, I truly desire to be;
Will you accept being with me?

Your mind is vast with knowledge gained,
And such badinage must have been trained
Through humorous friends and family too;
With you by my side, I would always be true.
Your company is that in which I feel comfortable best
As my thoughts lingered not on your thigh or your breast
Because I see you as more than just a laymanís endeavor;
I find you so sweet and ever so clever
You even posses such delightful wit
And you are quite comely, I do admit
Please consider my offer of shared futurity
And I swear that we shall live with great prosperity.

With you, I truly desire to be;
Will you accept being with me?
Christopher Marlowe was an English poet who, within the 1590s, wrote a poem entitled "The Passionate Shepherd to His Love." This poem is considered to be one of the most well known poems within the English language, and has had many "replies" written for it.

This is my own take on this classic piece, actually using personal history from myself to emphasis my intentions. In short, the things that you read here are actual things that happened to me, in a sense.

May you enjoy the piece that I have written.

I really like that you expounded on your subject's mind and general aura first, showing that what was most important to you was the general affect he/she had on your spirits and feelings. That said, I thought the sheepish admittance of "And you are quite comely, I do admit" was very adorable and very real.

Very nice!

I like leafing through your poetry. I am actually an English major and poet before I am an artist, but I never got the impression that DeviantArt was particularly receptive to poetry. You are making me rethink this. Perhaps you will inspire me to put up some of my words. In the meantime, please keep putting up yours. Keep poetry alive!

When I made this, I used my own sort of experience in presenting this tale. Though this is a bit on the exaggerated side, that which happens here (and the match to it) really did happen. I do feel that beauty alone shouldn't make the primary attraction between two people the core attraction, but I also admit that, with the intelligence and wit and personality, cuteness can be found within (and would be nice to have as well).

Indeed, poetry isn't looked upon so much here...and neither are most other stories that people have. One thing I've learned, though, was to do what I do for the pleasure of doing it. Create for Creation's Sake. If you enjoy poetry, then create and be joyful. Even if no one else views it, you liking it still shows that one person enjoys the creation.

^_^

Thank you very much for your kind words and encouragement; I shall do my best to continue in that which I enjoy.

Dude, thats like awesome!

o.0

It's just like the hidden side of s coin, I've known the sweet souled giant, humourours and intellectual, all this time.

I just never saw much of the amorous side.

You surprise me with the depth of this because i never knew you'd experienced a love so heart stoppingly pure.

just one question:
Whats "Badinage"?

:icondmajorboss:
DMajorBoss Featured By Owner Dec 27, 2006  Professional Writer
Badinage is light and playful talk, kind of like teasing someone in a pleasant way with words. In a sense, if you read the follow-up to this, you may actually sense the irony between the two pertaining to this.

And, yes, I have experienced pure love once in my life...though, Love has yet to fully accept me within the caring embrace that it shows others. If anything, Love has toyed with me to teach me lessons of what its true form really is.

I don't show this side of myself often...well, I kind of do, but not this deeply. Another friend of mine even told me of how, considering all that I write about and talk about, they've never seen this side of me either.

Thank you very much for your words, my friend.

I will read the follow up to this.
Tomorrow though...
I have no idea why I'm awake so I'm gonna go pass out now.

Thank you for the kind words.

Indeed, this really did come from true love. When I first feel for someone, I truly cared for them, and I truly wanted to be with them. These may not have been my words to them letter by letter, but it was pure love that drove me to give myself unto the one that I liked.

Again, thank you for the kind words.

I thank you deeply for these words. As I mentioned before, I wrote this by looking back onto personal experiences within my life, taking my feelings from then to write this. I never really wrote about love because of the emotional stress that I've had with it when I was younger. When I do write about it on a rare occasion, I truly go back and, for the most part, retell a story from an event that I actually went through.

In this, I truly did give myself unto the one that I loved, hoping to have a positive response in return. As you have read in the poem following this, not all things work out for the best like we want them to.

Again, I thank you deeply for these kind words.

An honor? but sir! Shouldn't such a thing be expected? The theatrical words that you have put forth every time are great buildings that are meant to be appreciated by all men and women.

Alas, not all things can be assumed, lest the offspring of Equus are we to become.

If art makes a building, then I have spent much time and effort to build a creation to house many people. The problem, however, is that such construction does not matter much to people when it takes effort to actually gain access. Why take the time to go to a writer's building when a drawer's building is much easier to behold? In this, I continue to create my structure, knowing that many will avoid my shelter; to create for creation's sake is what keeps me going at this point and, as long as I can look at my creations with honor, then appreciation is already given by the one that surely has to show it.

True. There is no one truly who can appreciate the cathedral of words you built as well as you can. there is no one who can know the meaning o the things you make as well you can. no one.

And if i may be so bold to say, people rarely know what they know about visual art either. They just see pretty color a nd a cute face. but the true meaning of the peice is often invisible.

The true meaning of many things are often invisible, and sometimes you just bump intoit and hold it in your hands. but when you hold the meaning, you think your crazy, because your the only one who sees it. And your the only one who knows it. While others fail to understand such coimplexities. until they find something that others can't understand....

well... that is my rant that i wanted to spout for a while. i am tired... sorry. My rants really have no reason or meaning, it is just a pure sighn of fatigue from me. So when eer i talk so strangely and foolishly, you know that it is late4 for me. ^_^

You have a strange sense of communication in all of this, my friend; quite interesting.

You say that most do not see the true meaning of visual art (which is true), and you also say that only a rare few will actually understand what was done, feeling insane because they are one of the few. Yet, right after that, you mention that your own words make no sense, spouting them off because you are tired.

I guess your best thoughts come to you when you're fatigued, as you do make perfect sense in all of this.
