“Sticks and Stones
May Break My Bones,
But Words will Never Hurt Me.”
This saying’s for show,
For most people do know
How powerful words can be.

Words can cause Love
From the Heaven’s above
And make a life seem quite placid.
From what some others tell,
They can also raise Hell
And burn as though they were acid.

Words can cause pain;
Not on body, but in brain
And can cause a change of one’s emotion
Be it written or said,
They well get in a head
And cause thoughts of permutable notion

These words are all dealt,
Depending on how they are felt,
With either good or bad sensation;
Some fall into doubt
And trade within for without,
Even leading to self-mutilation.

You can go grab your sticks,
Your axes, your picks,
And a boulder or rock or stone;
Compared to words that we speak,
These weapons are quite weak,
Even if they can really break bone.

So be careful with words,
Be them read, be them heard,
Be them used to boast up or to shrink.
Whether they’re sweet or they’re sour,
Words do have great power,
So remember, before speaking, please think.
